This wine is from Italy, Trentino-alto Adige region, Alto Adige sub-region. Alois Lageder’s great grandfather founded the winery over 150 years ago in Alto Adige, Northeast Italy. In 1934, the family acquired the Lowengang estate in Magre and continued adding other prime Alto Adige vineyards. Now in its fifth generation, the company is led by Alois Lageder. His brother-in-law Luis von Dellemann, is the winemaker. Today Lageder owns 185 acres across a variety of microclimates. In the higher elevation Alpine climate, Riesling, Muller-Thurgau and Gewurztraminer grow well. Farther downhill, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Bianco find enough warmth. In the valley floor, where temperatures exceed 90 F. in the summer, reds thrive. There are a variety of soils - mostly a mix of limestone and clay, with some volcanic porphyry. Lageder divides production into two brands - Alois Lageder and Tenutae Lageder. The wines of the Alois Lageder are made partly from grapes grown in their certified biodynamically farmed estate vineyards and partly from grapes purchased through long-term relationships with respected sustainable growers. Tenutae Lageder wines are made exclusively from grapes grown in the estate vineyards.. Lindenburg vineyard in Bolzano along the Talvera river at an elevation of 920 feet. Deepand rich alluvial soil. A very wet and cool spring was followed by a mild summer and temperate fall in 2006. With all of the moisture in the soil after the winter and spring rains, the grape clusters and leaf canopy grew beautifully through the summer. Leafing and thinning was the routine in the vineyards in 2006 to keep the ripening process on track.

After two vintages with some of the coolest temperatures on record, 2012 presented us with warm, consistent weather. The dry summer produced fruit of a rich full character in a perfect tension with acidity. The heat units allowed ever so slightly higher alcohol levels. This vintage rivals the 09’ wines which are some of the best we’ve made to date.

With aromas of fresh lime zest and fragrant gardenias, this wine is softened by a natural malolactic fermentation which gives warmth and deliciousness. The wine will mature over a long time, yet now has flavors of fine wool and bush honey with quince and ripe bouche pear.
The Santa Lucia Highlands 2012 growing season was spectacular - free of significant weather events, no significant rain impacted the budding period and the predictable weather allowed the fruit to hang as long as needed for full ripening of the fruit, delivering an abundant yield of world class Pinot Noir.
The 2005 Bello Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon hails primarily from the St Helena appellation. Two choice Cabernet vineyards in the tenderloin of St Helena, west of highway 29 and at the base of Spring Mountain, bring the lush, opulent and viscous character associated with great Cabernet grown in this region.
Bud break started more than two weeks early at the beginning of April. Then the weather cooled down significantly, and we were two weeks behind typical growing patterns by mid-June. Due to the poor weather during bloom, our berry counts per cluster were reduced significantly, which meant a very small crop. Whereas we usually target anywhere from 2.5 to 3 tons per acre, we ended up anywhere from 1.25 to 2 tons per acre. This was somehow a blessing. Despite the cool summer (only two days above 100 degrees), we were able to ripen each block perfectly. Wines from the 2010 vintage show vibrant flavors, bright acidity and exceptional balance.

Relish and enjoy them as much as we do!
Shows outstanding structure and definition. New oak comes through in the coffee and plum aromas and the palate is firm and concentrated, with delicious blackberry flavors. Hold until 2000 for it to soften and bloom... Wine Spectator

Juicy-ripe blackberry & mulberry, chocolate, & black pepper notes lead to a supple, velvety finish. A touch of Petite Sirah was blended with our Zinfandel to add complexity. 96 points Wine X magazine, Gold Medal SF Chronicle. Estate Produced & Bottled.
“Subtle aromas of violets, strawberries and raspberry lead to darker notes of black cherry and plum on the nose. On the palate blackberry, casis and chocolate dominate with hints of chalk and spice. The firm structure frames the extended silky finish of black fruits.”
A gutsy, square-jawed style, with a slightly burly chestnut and alder wood frame to the roasted fig, mulled blackberry and steeped black currant fruit. Ends with a solid, rustic-hewed finish.
We believe, above anything else, that family is most important. We come from a long line of hard working, family oriented people. Our grandfathers and grandmothers got up early with the sunrise to greet the day and put in an honest day's work. Our ancestors worked in logging camps, fished, worked as longshoremen, were teachers at the local elementary school, and above all else, raised caring, fun-loving families. After a day's work our parents continued the traditions of their parents by coaching our sports teams and rooting us on from the stands. Although working hard was a family value, being an active participant in your kids' lives was most important of all. We have families that have always been there for us, to celebrate with us through life's great moments or triumphs, and to lend a hand when we have been in need. We continue that tradition today - working hard and putting family first. So raise a glass to those most important to you - to family!
