We are a craft boutique winery specializing in quality unique wines. Our winery is located in Olympia, Wa, where we make all our wines and host visitors in our tasting room. We proudly pour sixteen beautiful wines that were all produced with grapes from the east side of the state. All grapes come handpicked from Washington vineyards chosen for their unique combinations of flavor and color. Our wines have been winning awards in local and national contests for years starting with our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, and earned several 90+ scores from Wine Advocate in 2010 and 2011.
“Aromas of blueberry, tobacco, smoked meat and dark cherry. A core of sweet ripe red and black fruits leads into a finish of sour cherry, cedar and smoke that lingers on the palate.”
A cool spring caused a later than normal bud break. We experienced perfect weather in June leading into a warmer than normal July. Harvest started in early September with ideal weather throughout early October. Cool spring with typical summer temperatures resulted in ripe and balanced fruit.

Once open and poured, the "half empty" sensation begins. One bottle with thirst-quenching flavors of Chardonnay is not enough to share. Sourced and crafted by the winemaking team, this wine demonstrates the characteristics of terroir and climate California vineyards are known for. Exactly the type of wine for selfish consumption.
The grapes are from the old vines up in the Santa Lucia Highlands. What a well balanced wine. No oak with malolactic fermentation. This will pair well with crab, salmon, chicken, halibut, sand dabs, cheeses and fruits, or pretty much all seafood. You can also drink it by itself.
This wine communicates the 2010 calendar year in Templeton: cool and deliberate with enough length and sun to produce particularly balanced and complex wines from the Briarwood vineyard.
The fruit for this wine comes from Upton Run (our family vineyard) and Tarcombe Ridge (a stunning neighboring vineyard) high in the Strathbogie Ranges. The grapes were harvested between the 23 February and 7 March 2013 during the cool of night to ensure fruit temperature was low to preserve primary fruit flavors. This wine was fermented between 13˚ and 16˚Celsius (55.4 and 60.8°F). The majority (90 per cent) of this wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve primary fruit flavors. The remaining 10 per cent was barrel fermented to add complexity and texture. We chose to use a variety of yeasts to ferment this wine because they all impart different characteristics and help build complexity in this Chardonnay. This wine was fermented and matured in new and old French oak with lees stirring. Lees stirring is a process where the lees (residual yeast particles) rest in barrel with the wine which promotes an appealing yeasty aroma and flavor. The aroma of this wine is accentuated by a small component of Viognier sourced from a beautiful old winery and friend of ours down the road called Tahbilk.

2012 was slightly warmer than average. We started the season off with a cool March that rolled into a warm April and May. Despite cooler temperatures in June, above average temperatures in July and August allowed for even ripening, controlled canopy growth and reduced pest and disease pressure. A warm, dry September allowed for longer hang time of the grapes which contributed to concentrated flavor development along with ripe tannins.

2010 was the coolest vintage on record. The weather created a lot of challenges for most winemakers. Thankfully our winemaker, Charlie Hoppes, has the experience to not only meet those challenges but actually use them to make exceptional wine. Wine grapes in Washington state are usually allowed to hang until the sugars are pretty high, resulting in brix in excess of 24. In 2010 Charlie felt the fruit was extremely balanced between the sugar and acid at a much lower than normal brix. Because of this Charlie chose to pick the fruit earlier than most winemakers and he missed the unusually high amount of rain that caused the hanging fruit to rot and mildew. Charlie feels the 2010 vintage will end up being a superior vintage and, because of the low sugars, will end up aging for a very long time.
"deep red color with violet tones. Very intense bouquet with red fruits like cherries and spices. Complex and well balanced with notes from the oak like vanilla and chocolate. Big on the mouth. A modern style wine, with sweet silky tannins. Great combined with all kind of grilled meats, games and cheeses." - Winery
