2010 Keswick Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

When the combination of rain, sunshine and a wonderful growing season give you perfect fruit, you better make the best use of it since it does not happen too often, especially in Virginia. With an almost perfect season, 2010 delivered the quality of fruit that we as winemakers dream of using. Virginia is not known for being able to make world class Cabernet, yet at Keswick Vineyards we look at it as our estate wine. Made as naturally as possible, using the indigenous yeast to conduct fermentation and allowing the secondary fermentation to complete naturally in barrel, this wine is a true expression of our wonderful vineyard. The wine is deeply pigmented and dense, with viscous trails on your glass as you take in the intoxicating aromas of dark fruits, spice and espresso tones derived from oak ageing. A jaw dropper of a wine with dark brooding flavors and fine grained tannins that do not finish. Matured for 22 months in a combination of French and American oak, this wine has the structure to be able to further mature in the bottle for another 5-7 years. A truly memorable wine from a truly great vintage, this wine belongs in the cellars of wine lovers, especially those that love and adore Cabernet like I do. This is not just a great Virginian Cabernet, it is a great Cabernet.
